John Sinner's New Work To Find Friends In Anyone Who's Ever Suffocated! John Sinner's new experimental performance piece, IF WATER WERE PRESENT IT WOULD BE CALLED DROWNING, will be performed on April 23rd and 24th, 8:30 PM, at the Studio @ REDCAT in the Walt Disney Concert Hall. REDCAT (The Roy and Edna Disney Cal Arts Theatre) is located at 631 West 2nd Street, Los Angeles, California 90012. IF WATER. is part of an evening of new works being presented by the prestigious REDCAT to showcase cutting edge new theatrical ideas. IF WATER WERE PRESENT IT WOULD BE CALLED DROWNING is an exciting romp through the exploding mind of housewife Lolly, as she takes us into the hellish trenches of her daily battle between domesticity and self-preservation. Lolly short-circuits before our eyes, her psyche disintegrating in the fog of her mind-numbing daily family routine. Writer-Director John Sinner is drawn to spinning stories about those who feel disenfranchised and disconnected from what we call a cherished seat at the table of American culture. Lolly's life is an example of the American Dream gone haywire. John Sinner's work is one of six pieces chosen from hundreds of applicants. A panel of curators appointed by REDCAT makes the choice of which short (15 minutes) works or sections thereof make the grade. In the fall of 2005, his full-length satire BLOOD IS MY LEGACY! had a critically acclaimed six-week run at the Art/Works Performance Space in Hollywood. He is the Producing Artistic Director of Theatre Revelation, a 501(c)(3) theatre company and is making plans to expand IF WATER. into a full-scale production.
Press Release Body = Writer/producer/director/theatrical visionary artist/throw you off kilter/charismatic. JOHN SINNER, with his boyish good looks and dazzling white smile, will perplex and startle you, to say the least. With his complex, internal, external, disturb your safe thinkings,we dare not utter to ourselves, or our safe world, the words that Sinner so easily and eloquently expressess. The combination of his uncanny total honesty about the complexitiesof the inner human mind, and his deeply cutting understanding of instinctive gutteral human need, only seems more disturbing and disquieting, since it hits you right in the gut and your deepest denial defenses, with a \"\"REVELATIONARY\"\" look into your own private mirror, hitting you smack in the face with who you are and who you are not. DIsturbing us, only because it brings to glaring light, those unspoken private inner voices ( that we all have) gurgling to the surface as you cringe with discomfort, hearing the words publicily spoken, knowing \" this is truth.\" JOHN SINNER, founder and producing artstic director of Theatre Revelation, wrote and directed the critically acclaimed \" WHAT REMAINS OFA WHORE\" \"STARBABY(ONE PSYCHO HOOKER\'S JOURNEY FROM SLUTBAG TO SUPERSTAR)\" \"A COLLAPASE OF THE SOUL AT ITS\' CENTER\" \"MOURNING SUNRISE\" \"GENTLY LEAVE THE NIGHT\" and \"BLOOD IS MY LEGACY!\" Yes, you don\'t know whether to feel offended with judgemental disdain or giggle with an uncomfortable curiosity. Just hearing, the needless to say, highly provocative titles of these plays does pique one\'s interest ( if you\'re willing to admit). Take note, John Sinner is a truly genius writer whose style draws you in, then twists your fleshy soul, like a colD north wind, like an icy blade. He seeps under your skin and hits you where your comfort level is raw with disconfort. And that\'s where the true visionary learning begins. Sinner\'s works are known for their multiple, disorienting, sound distractions and masterfully contrived, outlandishly, visual video projections. An overload of the senses, as life can be. One of the many themes of Sinner\'s works are exploring the interior of the fantastical fantasy life of those persons who fele trapped, confined, stuck, suffocated, by a life expected, unfulfilled, \"Not all it\'s cracked up to be\"( remember all those lovely smiling commercial faces you grew up with on TVLAND.) The drowning of an individual in life\'s everyday struggles and beyond, hence the premise of JOHN SINNER\"S NEW WORKS to be revealed at STUDIO @ REDCAT in the WALT DISNEY CONCERT HALL. A 15 minute experimental performance piece you will not be able to purge from your thoughts. Don\'t let the name Disney throw you. This is no kiddie ride or kiddie show....
